Clean Up Your Wall

In my case, Facebook has become a daily routine where I post and interact with my friends.  My profile is my presence to them. There first glance show them who I am but, what about my wall? Your wall is what you convey and speak to them. Therefore, I keep it clean from  Facebook games and apps like below: In my opinion, this obstructs the view you give to people and shy's them away.

Every time I see a Facebook app or game has posted something on my wall, that I do not like, I block it by right clicking on the "X" and then select "Block...".  From now on the app or game will not have permission to post on my wall.

Yoytube scaming people?

Just today, I was in my Chrome browser when I decided to see some videos on YouTube. I started to type in the URL when I accidentally misspelled Youtube and typed in yoytube.com. This was clearly not my intention. This it what showed up: At first, I thought it was the real Youtube.com, but when I saw I had an opportunity to win a Macbook, Iphone or, Ipad.  I suddenly stepped back and thought to myself, "Apple and Google together? That;s not right".  Then I saw the URL and saw it was not Youtube.com. I had been redirected to another site.  Well, you may ask,  how can I prevent it? That is a very good question. First thing is, you are the person who needs to be responsible to see if you have been directed to the correct destination.  Always glance at the URL bar in your browser. Second, do not use your browser to search or go to websites. Type them into Google or bookmark them within your browser. If you have any tips let us know. Thank you!

Thanks to Michael for part of the tip.

Use a Coffee Filter to Clean Your TV Screen and Monitor

Are you a coffee addict? I think a least some part of us are. If not, you probably live or go to work with some who has coffee filters. Why do I want a coffee filter in my possession? Well, if you really need to clean your TV or monitor, coffee filters are great because they do not leave any residue like normal towels do, they trap the dust in the microscopic holes and cut down on static. All these are a big pluses. Why not take advantage of those coffee addicts? I will just leave it up to you. =)

Want To Know Your Cell Phone Raditaion level?

In the last year, there are many debates on the question: "Do cell phones cause cancer?" This unanswered question is scary to think about because we all use cell phones day in and day out. Even our cell phones become alarm clocks. We can just hope that cell phones don't give us cancer.  If you are one of those people who are alert to this discussion, you can take some very simple steps of precaution.

1) Don't use a cell phone (Okay maybe not totally possible ).

2) Use headphones when talking to somebody.

3) Use the speaker phone.

4) Get a phone that has a low radiation level.  Below is a link to a CNET article on Radiations levels  from cell phones. Great source!

Andriod Keyboard MOD
I love my HTC Evo, rooted with Cyanogen's latest ROM. The one drawback to my Evo and many other android phones is the keyboard. I have tried many different types and styles from Swype to Swiftkey and the stock HTC Sense keyboard but there was always something I didn’t like. I couldn’t change the language with out going into the settings, the emoticons were difficult to get to or  the  manually typed, keys that I wanted where missing and had others that I didn’t care much for. I wanted to be in control of my keyboard and customize it like I did to my Android device. With the new keyboard, I can use swipe commands to shift, change language, hide the keyboard, or delete the last word, I can also add custom emoticons, and much more.So enough small talk lets get to the goods. The customizable keyboard is called HTC IME (input method) MOD, based off of the HTC's Sense keyboard but so much better.  This is what you’ll need: HTC_IME.apk Clicker.apk (needed ONLY if you don’t have a phone with HTC Sense) Applications Manager (I use Astro File Manager)

First you’ll need to download Astro or some other File/App manager from the Android market. Next download the zip with both apks here. Place the apks on your sd card and install them with Astro. Once installed all you have to do is go to the Android settings -> Language & keyboard, under Keyboard Settings you’ll see HTC_IME mod and a check box next to it, check it to make it your primary input method. Below the check box you’ll see the settings menu click on that and customize to your hearts desire.

Try it out if you don’t like it you can always go back to what you had before but if you do like it and would like to donate to the developer jonsil please visit: http://android.hallerud.se/donate.html

If if there is something you don’t like and are feeling up to the challenge here’s the source code: http://www.hallerud.se/htc_ime_mod_dev27.zip

Happy Pi Day!

How long is pi? The world may never know! But with the advancement of computers, you can now calculate pi to the millionths place. How do you do that? You can use Super Pi, It will let you choose the decimal places as a way to benchmark your computer's processor. The less time, the "faster" the processor. The software is somewhat obsolete with the advent of dual core processors and the latest supported operating system which  is Windows XP, but I tried it under Windows 7 and it works!  I used CPU-Z to probe for system info and Super Pi for the benchmark.

Clean Your Laptop Battery to Make it More Efficent

Have you ever heard of cleaning your laptop battery to make it last longer? I never have. The only thing I have done, is take out the battery and clean the dust around it. But there is a way to really clean it, to make your battery more efficient.  In order to do this, take out the battery and find the metal contacts. Grab rubbing alcohol and use a swab to clean the metal contacts.  It's that simple. Make sure you do this every month and also allow it to dry before re-inserting. PicBy[jadijadi]

Spark a Dream with MS DreamSpark

Free software is awesome, but sometimes paid software has its kicks. What if you could get paid software for free? Introduce Microsoft DreamSpark. DreamSpark is an attempt by Microsoft to give away its software for people to develop new software using Visual Studio 2010, test out there server operating system, develop games and applications for Windows 7 mobile. Pretty awesome right? The only catch is that you need to be a college student or have an e-mail with "edu" (of course there is ways around the verification system)! So if you qualify, I recommend giving it a try!

Want an Easy Way to Root Your Andriod Phone?

As Android phones get more popular people get interested in pushing their phones to the limit.  Like Apple's iOS devices you may in a form "jailbreak" to gain full access.  In Android it is not called Jailbreak . The word "root" is used.  This allows you to back up your Android phone, put custom ROM's and basically fully customize it.  Unrevoked allows you to download some software that will "root" your phone in one click.  I have done this with my Android Droid  Incredible. It was a simple step to gain access to the root structure and modified its contents. Below are the cellphones that are supported by Unrevoked. Have fun and enjoy  but I am not responsible for any damage to your phone.

Let Sleepyti.me Tell You When to Sleep

When we sleep, we go through sleep cycles,  typically  90 minutes in length but what if you wake up in the middle of one of these cycles, you may feel tired and groggy. To avoid that, a new service has come out to tell you when to sleep.  Sleepyti.me only asks you when you plan to wake up so it may calculate  your sleep cycles. Give it a try today.

Add "Mac" Dock to Windows

If you like the dock feature Mac OS X has, you might be interested in StarDock ObjectDock. They offer a "plus" version, but  I think the free version is good enough. I used it for a while, it gets the job done nicely. On the other hand, I use Windows 7,  and I found it to be overkill specially since Windows 7 allows you to pin icons, essentially, a static dock.  I recommend it to anyone who does NOT have Windows 7 in their machine or does not like the pinned icons.  Compared to the Mac OS X dock, it does NOT have stacks within the dock. A small set back, but not really essential to its overall functionality.

Installation is simple. Simply download and install. It has relatively non-technical options to configure . The only option that is maybe a little tricky is the  "optimize for performance or memory."  Windows 7 and Vista need about 1GB RAM to start off, so if you have less than 2GB, I would recommend optimize for performance. Windows XP is less demanding, but if you have 512MB or less, definitely optimize for performance!  Of course, you can always experiment with the setting!

But if you need another reason to switch to Linux, there is a project called Cairo-Dock which, in my opinion runs circles around the Mac OS X.  Above is a screenshot, but if someone wants more information on Cairo-Dock, please let me know!
